I have been commissioned to make a cross-stitch piece, frame and all, for the first time. I’m not sure how much to charge for the finished product. I know to charge for supplies, but then is the ‘going rate’ for the time I spend completing it? Thanks for the help.

I am a novice Cross Stitcher and have purchased a Thomas Kinkade printed kit. I’ve already put samples of the corresponding floss by the stitch symbol chart and taped the edges of my canvas to prevent fraying. I’m ready to start the project, but I’m noticing that the chart and the actual print on the canvas are not matching up in the count. For instance, there are more squares on the chart from a point to the edge than there are from the corresponding point on the print to the edge of the printed canvas. I”m also noticing that the chart and printed canvas aren’t really matching up from point to point either. I seem to remember my mom saying something about finding the center of the canvas and starting from there. So can someone who is practiced and knowledgable about this craft please tell me how one follows an embellished cross stitich pattern correctly?

I love doing cross stitch and i have found some beautiful photos on the web and i would love to stitch them.I have a computer program that can turn any photo into a chart and print it off to stitch or sell the charts but do i need to ask permission to do that or can i just save the picture?

I’m developing a modern cross stitch site where users pick designs to make their own giant samplers with their own messages and themes. What sort of images do you think would be good to use as designs, for example instead of old fashioned sampler images I have used modern day issues such as nuclear power stations and guns. These designs can then be completed using the craft technique of cross stitching to make up and image, its nice to mix old craft style with modern images.
